The ROX Medical WALK Trial is a clinical research study in the United States for men and women that have been diagnosed with severe and very severe Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).

ROX Medical is pioneering the Anastomotic Coupling Procedure, a minimally invasive procedure, utilizing a Nitinol implant that is percutaneously placed, similarly to cardiovascular procedures like angioplasty or stenting. The coupler connects a vein to an adjacent artery in the pelvic region to create a calibrated passage that diverts blood from the artery to the vein, transporting oxygen-rich blood to the lungs.

The purpose of the WALK Trial is to study the safety and effectiveness of the Coupler and to assess whether patients with acute COPD can achieve a greater exercise capacity, a reduction in hypoxemia, an overall reduction in COPD symptoms, and improved condition with the device.
